The purchase order will be based on a price quotation
It is common practice for businesses to invite suppliers and request for a price quotation before they issue a purchase order or request delivery of selected products. In some cases, the request for quotation may mean the Invitation to Bid, although the bidding process can be complicated for large companies or government corporations while the quotation process can be simple and speedy.
The price quotation document usually includes other information in addition to the price per item and volume of deliveries. It may also include payment terms, expected dates of deliveries and type of packaging and the contents per package.
